Why I’m a little late to the party.

Although we often had dogs when I was a child, I didn’t get my first dog as a grown up until my sixth child was four years old. I’m a mom. And being a mother to six wonderful, but totally normal (i.e. destructive, loud, energetic, sassy) children took everything I had for a lot of years. I’m not one bit sorry about that. If I had started with dogs sooner, maybe my focus would have been divided, and my kids would have suffered. They think they suffered enough, as it is. 😉

I started breeding Cavaliers in 2018 with a lot of optimism and naiveté. I’m STILL optimistic, but not so gullible. Mistakes have been made as I’ve tried to improve and learn. I’ve been breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniels for six years now. It’s the second coolest thing I’ve ever done!

I’m pouring my well-honed nurturing, “helicopter-mom” skills into these dogs and getting up to speed on Conformation showing and OFA testing. Even in the beginning I never cut corners on veterinary care, socialization and breeding choices, and those decisions are taking my dogs to the highest level of health, temperament and beauty. I’m working hard with some amazing mentors to increase my dog expertise.

But I’m already an EXPERT on family life. Cleaning up messes, comforting hurt feelings and negotiating peace treaties are sometimes bigger priorities than walking the dog. You need a dog that really fits into your home. I want to help you to make the right decision for YOUR FAMILY. Because they come first. Period.

Now that my kids are grown, we are roping them into doggie activities! They mostly don’t mind. Even my husband shows dogs and gives shots. He’s ready to add “Dog OBGYN” to his resumé after delivering some of Pepper’s puppies on our way home from our son’s wedding. 🙂
